Terms of Service

Effective Date: August 6, 2026
Developer: Sweet Action Labs
Applies to: Mute for Android (Google Play) and Mute for iOS (App Store)

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Mute ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Service Description

Mute is a focus and distraction-blocking app. It blocks distracting apps for a duration you choose and tracks your focus session history; on Android it also silences notifications via Do Not Disturb. All user data is stored locally on your device. These Terms apply to Mute for Android (distributed through Google Play) and Mute for iOS (distributed through the App Store). See our Privacy Policy for how each version differs.

3. Commitment Deposit

Mute uses a commitment deposit model to help you follow through on your focus sessions:

4. Ending a Session and Emergency Access

Emergency calling is never affected by Mute. Your ability to place or receive phone calls, including emergency calls, is handled by your device's operating system and is not something Mute blocks or can block.

Ending a focus session itself is a separate matter. Mute does not offer a free in-app "emergency exit" button: the in-app early exit consumes your deposit, or costs the early-exit fee, as described above — that friction is the point of the product. You can always end a session outside the app by revoking Mute's system permissions, force-quitting, or uninstalling it; on iOS, withdrawing Screen Time authorization ends the session without a charge and without consuming your deposit.

5. Refunds

The commitment deposit is designed to be forfeited when you exit a session early — that is the commitment working as intended. However, we will issue a full refund if:

To request a refund, contact us at contact@sweetactionlabs.com with your store order or transaction ID and a brief description of the issue. You may also request a refund directly through Google Play or, on iOS, through Apple's Report a Problem page — purchases are processed by the store, so refunds are ultimately theirs to issue.

6. Permissions

Mute requires certain system permissions to function: on Android, the Accessibility Service, Do Not Disturb access, and Notifications; on iOS, Screen Time authorization and Notifications. These permissions are used solely for focus session functionality and are fully described in our Privacy Policy. You may revoke permissions at any time through your device settings, though this will limit app functionality.

7. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Mute is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with all devices. We are not responsible for any missed calls, messages, or notifications during a focus session.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sweet Action Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for in-app purchases in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be reflected with an updated effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the State of California.
